Project Idea

My idea is to improve a "Travel Europe" project that I first tried with my students last year. I got enthused when I viewed the link that Eric provided to "Mrs. Fettes' Vacation Around The World". I was so surprised that our two projects were very similar in content. The biggest difference was my "low tech" approach as compared to all the internet/computer resources she had included. My goal is to put the new and improved project online with links for students. This will include several web applications, including Trip Advisor; Expedia/Travelocity; Google Earth; and a Powerpoint slide show. I'm hoping that students will enjoy planning their European vacation even more this year!

Two Great Blogs

Here are two blogs I found that will be useful to me!

1. http://blog.mywonderfulworld.org

This blog is affiliated with National Geographic. It includes menu options for "educators" and "kids", which interested me the most. I found the articles were interesting and included great photography. One of my favorite finds was "field blogs". First person accounts from many world locations!

2. http://geolounge.com "All Things Geography"

This blog also has some fantastic photography and a mix of really interesting posts on all kinds of geography topics. For example, did you know that Monopoly was used during WWII by the British SS to conceal escape maps? Or that there is an inflatable Earth Balloon 20' in size that depicts true color satellite imagery? Love to get that on display at our school!

First Class

This is all new to me!
